Offering many year-round outdoor recreational opportunities, Bozeman is also home to Montana State University, home of the Bobcats (GO BOBCATS!), and the Museum of the Rockies. Fun Fact: Between the 2000 and 2010 censuses, Bozeman’s population jumped from just over 27,000 to just over 37,000, making it one of the fastest growing cities in the country.

Montana State University is as remarkable as its setting. Montana State University is in a class of its own. MSU is among the top 3% of colleges and universities for research expenditures, and is also classified by the Carnegie Foundation as an institution with a high undergraduate profile. This means that undergraduates at MSU get research opportunities typically reserved for graduate students at other schools. Plus, MSU’s location at the crossroads between Yellowstone National Park and some of the biggest skiing in America offers students a classroom, lab and playground unlike any in the world.

City of Bozeman Parks & Recreation, in partnership with Gallatin Valley Land Trust (GVLT), collaborate with dozens of public and private organizations to expand “Main Street to the Mountains” to an astonishing 80+ (and growing) actively maintained trails and trail systems.

In a little as 20 minutes, you can drive from one end of Bozeman to the other. We love that. But, if you’re not able to drive, Bozeman has a fantastic free public transportation system, Streamline. We love that too.

The Bozeman Streamline has been operating since 2006 and is a great way to get around town. From Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to the Gallatin Valley Mall and from MSU to Belgrade, and even Livingston, the routes are perfect for commuting for work or simply exploring the Valley. You can even ride to Bridger Bowl and Bohart Ranch for a day of skiing. They also offer door-to-door transportation for seniors and persons with disabilities. We highly encourage you to jump on and see where it takes you, you might be surprised. And, don’t forget the best part…it’s free!

Want to get to Big Sky but don’t want to drive yourself or need a ride? Well guess what, we’ve got a bus for that too! The Skyline Bus offers routes from Bozeman all the way up to Moonlight Basin and Big Sky Resort, Town Center, with multiple stops along the way for you to explore all Big Sky has to offer.
